About

"minority groups who constantly outbreed the majority will no longer persist in doing so" is a quote which has been used to argue that Planned Parenthood has an agenda of reducing the black population or even committing black genocide, a goal started by PP's founder Margaret Sanger.

Narrative

This is the story according to various hearsay (e.g. discussions on Google+ which can't easily be linked) as well as various blog posts.

  • according to a G+ comment on this post, this quote was originally uttered by Alan Guttmacher, then-president of Planned Parenthood, with the intention of convincing US policy-makers that birth control would help reduce the rate at which minority groups were "outbreeding" the white majority.
  • Williamson County Conservative says that Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger considered blacks "unfit" members of society, and that "Sanger and early managers of Planned Parenthood specifically targeted blacks in their birth control and abortion efforts", using this quote as evidence (but without specific attribution).
  • BlackGenocide.org agrees that this quote comes from Guttmacher. It should be noted that BlackGenocide.org is a project of the anti-abortion group L.E.A.R.N. Inc.

Working my way slowly through these sources, I have yet to find one that gives a source for the quote -- but I've only checked a few so far, and there seem to be dozens of them. --Woozle 22:37, 23 July 2011 (EDT)
