About

Birtherism is a form of denialism in which someone believes that another person's birthplace disqualifies them for office. It originated with attacks on Barack Obama's qualifications to be President of the United States, and he is still (as of late 2015) essentially the only target of such attacks, including the specific claim that he was born in Kenya rather than Hawaii even though at least one Republican candidate for President was actually not born in the United States (Ted Cruz was born in Cuba[1].)

The attacks on Obama resulted in the White House releasing copies of not one but two different versions of Obama's birth certificate.
