Overview
[W]: Election Systems & Software (ES&S) is a United States company that provides voting services. It was founded in 1996 as American Information Systems, Inc., then merged with Business Records Corp. the following year and changed its name to ES&S. It is a subsidiary of McCarthy Group Inc., which is jointly held by the holding firm and the Omaha World-Herald Co., the publisher of Nebraska's largest newspaper.
The company's CEO was Chuck Hagel, who in 1996 became the first Republican elected to the U.S. Senate from Nebraska in twenty-four years – winning a close race in which eighty-five percent of the votes were tallied by his former company (he left ES&S upon winning the election).
