Overview

Freedom of religion refers to the freedom to choose the nature of one's religion. It is enshrined as a basic right in US Constitution.

It is frequently claimed that the right of freedom of religion does not include freedom from religion, i.e. the right not to engage in religious activity if one does not wish to, but these claims are generally baseless.
