Despite many alarms being raised over the idea that Muslims are in the process of taking over the United States via similar processes as those reported in Europe – a claim made both by many US conservatives as well as more measured voices such as the UK's Pat Condell – so far all of these claims seem to be based on gross distortions at best, typically by Christian fundamentalist fearmongers. See, for example, the Ground Zero Mosque furor.
