A "seedling" is an article with some substantial content but which still has some areas in need of filling in.

In some cases, an article may be tagged as a "seedling" because the author specifically wishes to solicit the input of others in order to check assertions which the article may make, or at least to indicate that there may be unsupported assertions in need of further discussion.

Seed articles often become seedlings before fully "maturing", though sometimes articles are created as seedlings and some seed articles may go directly to "maturity" without passing through the seedling stage.
