Post-Katrina gun confiscation

From Issuepedia

Overview

Local police went around confiscating legally-owned personal firearms in areas affected by Hurricane Katrina not long after the hurricane had passed through, giving the justification that criminals would break into abandoned houses and take the guns. However, at least some of the people whose guns were confiscated were properly provisioned for a long stay and had not planned to leave their houses unguarded.

Details remain unclear at this time.
