Overview

A power base is the aggregate power represented by all the individuals at the bottom tiers of a power structure (followers). The strength of a power base is proportional to the number of followers multipled by the average degree of control over each follower.

Powermongers are those who are more inclined to increase power base strength through coercion, posturing, fear, and other dishonest means (i.e. authoritarianism); those likely to follow such a leader are generally described as authoritarian followers.

An honest leadership can honorably build a power base by earning trust and showing reliability and effectiveness at accomplishing the shared goals of its power base.
