It seems to me there are probably other rhetorical techniques which wouldn't exactly be called "deceptions" and yet still would have the effect of empowering a flawed argument over a correct one, e.g. the standard "debate" technique which severely limits the information-space of a discussion and gives a strong advantage to those skilled in rhetorical technique.
