Overview

Scientology is a set of beliefs and practices originally created by American speculative fiction author L. Ron Hubbard in 1952 and now promoted by the Church of Scientology (CoS), an organization founded by Hubbard.

There have been repeated and increasing allegations by many that the Church of Scientology (CoS) uses highly unethical attack strategies against those who criticize it. These criticisms have come from former CoS members as well as those not affiliated with CoS. (These criticisms almost entirely revolve around the words and actions of the CoS rather than independent Scientologists, so further discussion will be on the Church of Scientology page.)

It is arguable whether the practice of scientology itself is a religion; according to the Church of Scientology's scientology.org web site, "In Scientology no one is asked to accept anything as belief or on faith. That which is true for you is what you have observed to be true. An individual discovers for himself that Scientology works by personally applying its principles and observing or experiencing results." This has reportedly not been true in practice (see Church of Scientology), but this may be due more to corruption of the Scientological ideal within the CoS than to the idea of Scientology itself.

Scientology is a dangerous, and brainwashing cult - and they would do anything to have you, and your loved ones believe otherwise. Scientology has already been declared an illegal organization within the Nation of Germany - a practice that should have been adopted by the rest of the world a long time ago. The Scientology Story

Scientology was founded by L. Ron Hubbard as a self-help philosophy. Hubbard's group became very popular and is now considered a mainstream religion. Hubbard's son died mysteriously at a Scientology resort in 1976. Hubbard realized that his group formed to help people solve their problems had grown into a greedy, monry-hungry cult, but it was too late. Scientologist leaders accused Hubbard's wife of embezzling from the "Church". She was sentenced to prison. L. Ron Hubbard himself was charged, but died mysteriously at the hands of Scientology.

If Scientology can turn on and kill its own founder and his son, it can kill just about anyone, member or not. Many naive scientologists have died under the Cult's watch.

Usage

The term "scientology" is often used to refer to actions and statements by the Church of Scientology; discussion of such actions should go on the CoS page unless they do not involve the CoS.
