Hurricane Katrina was an Atlantic hurricane which caused devastating damage in the Gulf Coast of North America. Most memorably, floodwaters from the hurricane's passage on 2005-08-29 caused floodwaters to overtop levees in New Orleans, resulting in heavy damage and nearly unprecedented conditions in a United States city.
