There is no such thing as society

"There is no such thing as society" is a claim originally made famous by Margaret Thatcher (I think), probably based on Ayn Rand's statement that "there is no such thing as the public interest"[1], and widely adopted by American libertarians. It is usually used as an argument against the need for government, in parallel with Ronald Reagan's infamous declaration that government is the problem.
