It's difficult to be sure if it really is the same spot, but the few traces of landmarks seen in the news videos of the crash do seem to match the USGS map; what might help is to look at post-crash aerial views to see if they match as well. (However, there ''was'' plenty of airplane debris found -- just not in that spot.)
