About

The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) is a constitutional body (i.e. a body defined and mandated by Pakistan's constitution) responsible for giving legal advice on Islamic issues to the Government of Pakistan and the Parliament.

There appears to be some question, however, as to whether its existence continues to be legal, as the constitution assigned it a mission of which was to have ended with its final report in 1997. (Details remain unclear as to what the mission was.)
