About
"Atheist dogma" (also: "atheist fundamentalism", "fundamentalist atheism") is an anti-atheism troll phrase which attempts to discredit atheism by implying that it is no less rigid than any other ideology.
Since the core assertion of atheism – that gods exist only in the imagination – is based on the idea that dogma (especially religious dogma) should be subject to the same standards of evidence as any other set of beliefs, the implication that atheism is itself dogmatic is either:
- an oxymoron (because atheism is definitionally the opposite of dogmatism), or
- unfalsifiable because the definition of "dogmatic" must be stretched to include the idea of rejecting dogmatism, meaning that there are no belief-sets which could not be classified as "dogmatic".
