About
Rhetorical distortion in the mainstream media is particularly damaging because many people will accept the resulting conclusions as authoritative, rather than viewing them with appropriate skepticism. Due to the large audience reached by the mainstream media, these distortions then enter the mainstream consciousness as "fact" and are reinforced every time one individual encounters other individuals who also accept them as "fact". Blatant and clear errors made by the mainstream media then become just part of the accepted truth that "everyone knows".
Usage
This page is for discussion of mainstream media distortion as a phenomenon; for examples, see Mainstream media/distortions.
