I would hardly call it "goading", since this was one of the key points we agreed on near the beginning of the discussion, i.e. that it was important to distinguish between a political ideal and the expressions of that ideal -- to which I would add that expressions can still be in tune with the ideal and help to explain it, so it can be helpful to give specific examples of good or bad real-world expressions so others can connect the dots of the picture you're trying to draw...
...especially since the picture you described doesn't seem to have a lot to do with the outlines you've sketched...
But sure, if you'd rather go for examples to illustrate what your ideal is rather than what it isn't, that sounds at least as sensible as what I suggested.
Show me the side of conservatism that truly has the interests of civilization and/or America at heart, and that is working for the best future for all of us. It should be most welcome relief from the idiocy which seems to get all the media coverage these days.
