A free-as-in-uncoerced market is a market in which no individual feels forced or coerced to take specific actions; every participant has the freedom to choose whether to engage in a transaction.

Such a market cannot exist without regulation of some kind to prevent a few individuals from employing coercive techniques against other participants; this type of "free market" is therefore mutually exclusive with a free-as-in-unregulated market.
