#LunchWithAConservative 3/24 part 2 -- I belatedly remembered some claims that might be worth a fact-check.

1. In England, if you are the victim of a robbery but you were in some way negligent in securing your valuables (e.g. left a window unlocked), "the police" (not sure if he specifically meant the police or the courts or both) will hold you at least partly responsible for the loss.

2. In England, a farmer who had been robbed repeatedly set up a gun near an entryway to be automatically triggered by someone entering. The trap worked, and a likely burglar was killed -- and the farmer was imprisoned for manslaughter.

3. (a) England followed austerity policies, and yet the economy there is doing fine. (b) Sweden and Norway aren't doing as well as they once were. (c) Norway's wealth comes/came primarily from oil.

For now, I'll refrain from going into the conclusions he was trying to support with these claims -- except to note the apparent contradiction between items 1 and 2.
