Overview

The anti-gay viewpoint, often referred to as "homophobia" ("homo" being short for homosexual), is most commonly argued from a Biblical standpoint (i.e. the Bible condemns homosexuality, therefore we should too) and secondarily from the social conservative standpoint of preserving social order.

The anti-gay viewpoint is most commonly expressed as an opposition to gay marriage, though it can take the form of violence (sometimes fatal) in extreme cases.

Homosexuals were one of the groups targeted for extermination by Adolf Hitler's Nazis during the Holocaust in World War II.

Conclusions

None of the anti-gay arguments examined by Issuepedia thus far have held up under examination. The anti-gay movement is part of the ongoing wars on the family (especially where it targets gay marriage) and individuality.
