Overview

Daylight savings time is an issue, albeit relatively minor and insignificant, due to the very noticeable amounts of inconvenience it causes in exchange for the much less noticeable benefits it supposedly brings.

An attempt to increase those benefits in the United States by moving the changeover "spring forward" date earlier by several weeks in 2007 apparently produced none of the expected benefits1.
