Without letting this devolve too far into a healthcare discussion, because quite frankly it's an area I don't feel knowledgable enough debating, as far as the self-employed, private contractors, etc...let them band together under the same system as I suggested for small businesses.

As for the 'permanantely uninsured' I need more clarification. Are you talking about someone with a health issue that can't hold a job? Woudln't medicare cover them?

As for the financial mess, I am not convinced these kinds of things can always be prevented. The very nature of financial markets is to always be looking for the next way to make millions. You put your finger in one leak and another pops out. We can put regs in place but I don't think it's realistic to think we can prevent something like this from happenign again, no matter how many firewalls we throw up.
