Non-employment income is any kind of income that is received regardless of employment -- i.e. anything except a wage or (conversely) unemployment benefits.
It can include any of the following:
- guaranteed income, if the guarantee is not contingent on (un)employment
- profit dividends
- bank interest
- trust fund disbursements
