Systems of Survival, a 1961 book by US urban activist Jane Jacobs, identifies two fundamental moral systems[1]:

  • Treasure honor

  • Be open to inventiveness and novelty

  • Be thrifty
  • Invest for productive purposes
  • Collaborate easily with strangers and aliens
  • Promote comfort and convenience
  • Be optimistic
  • Be honest

Note the similarity between "guardian syndrome" and authoritarian ideals.
