• 2022-10-25 The religious right is now targeting sexless marriages as “selfishness.” They want to ban those too (h/t) «some 83 Christian nationalist groups (led by the Alliance Defending Freedom) released a letter in July imploring Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to block the Respect for Marriage Act, because marriage equality somehow opens the door to further immorality, like platonic marriages.» «83 religious groups [...] signed onto the letter to McConnell asking to block the Respect for Marriage Act. Each group essentially states in no uncertain terms that asexuality is unacceptable to their religion and should be banned from having equal marriage rights.» Are GOP voters ok with this?

• 2022-10-25 Steve Bannon threatens Dr Fauci and his family will be ‘hunted’ after midterms: ‘Paybacks across the board’ «“On 8 November, when we destroy the Democratic party as a national political institution and really end the regime, the hunted become the hunters. The whole Fauci family is going to be welcome to the investigations. The entire family,” Mr Bannon said on his War Room podcast on Sunday.» Are GOP voters ok with this?

• 2022-10-24 Chris Hedges: Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (h/t): Chris Hedges thinks we need to worry about Putin going nuclear. Beau argues compellingly that this is just right-wing scaremongery. I'd hate to be wrong, but I feel like Beau makes a solid rational case while Hedges just makes an emotional one. The wild card here is that Putin is clearly almost as nuts as Trump -- and has a lot more control than Trump ever did, although he is rapidly losing it. Here's hoping we don't have to depend yet again on the wise and brave disobedience of underlings to save us.
