Islam, much like Christianity and Judaism, has a long history of violent non-state conflict.

Violence perpetrated by Muslims, however, tends to be much more widely reported in Western media than violence by other religions or violence against Muslims, probably due to the predominance of the other two religions in the leadership of Western society who see Islam as more of an alien faith and therefore both "not us" and also useful to demonize.

There is also a long history of state-sanctioned Christian violence against Muslims, most notably "the Crusades [W]".
