Ron Paul is running for US president in 2008. He has rather unexpectedly become (as of October 2007) one of the main contenders for the US Republican Party nomination, due largely to his great popularity on the internet.

Many areas of the former US have been claimed by militant Islamics who institute Sharia law. The federal government has no power and is merely a figurehead institute.
