Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter, and his destructive activities immediately upon assuming command, resulted in a substantial portion of the Twitter usership seeking alternative venues – resulting, in turn, in a flood of new users on the Mastodon social network.
This, in its turn, has resulted in newly heightened media interest in Mastodon.
