- 2008-08-18 /S/D/ Democrats Must Nix Offensive Bloggers “On the home page of Bitch Ph.D. there is a picture of two children: one of them is shown flashing his middle finger. Today’s lead post, which was written August 17, is called ‘Jesus Christ.’ It begins with, ‘I’m a really crappy Catholic who hasn’t been to mass in ages because most parishes around here ‘will’ insist on being aggressively anti-abortion...’ The writer then objects to some children’s toys on the grounds that they are more offensive than desecrating the Eucharist. The toys are actually balloons that have been made to depict Jesus in various poses, including a crucified Christ; one of these images shows Jesus with a penis. Several who commented on this image made patently obscene comments.” Um, hello Bill, that's a little girl, presumably the blog's author... and the site with the Jesus balloons was making fun of Jesus (as commonly depicted in contemporary Christian literature, anyway), so you'd think Donohue would be appreciative that she was apparently offended by it... though she apparently thought it was actual Christian kitsch rather than parody, so perhaps he's offended by her being offended by people making balloon toys to promote Jesus even though that's not what it was; apparently he actually likes the balloons? - 2006-09-21 /S/D/ Black GOP Groups Woo Mfume, Blast Democrats to Back Steele “...radio advertisement targeting African American listeners that was sponsored by the Washington-based National Black Republican Association. The ad identifies Martin Luther King Jr. as a Republican and pins the founding of the Ku Klux Klan on Democrats. .. One woman says: "Democrats passed those black codes and Jim Crow laws. Democrats started the Ku Klux Klan." .. "The Klan?" her friend replies. "White hoods and sheets?" .. First woman: "Democrats fought all civil rights legislation from the 1860s to the 1960s. Democrats released those vicious dogs and fire hoses on blacks." .. Second woman: "Seriously?" .. The ad says that "Democrats want to keep us poor while voting ONLY Democrat" and, "Democrats have bamboozled blacks." .. In an interview yesterday, Steele said he had not heard the 60-second spot but said he generally does not oppose Republican efforts to assert their "real place in history." Today, though, his campaign released a statement blasting the ad.”
