This whole Brendan Eich thing is pulling up some very odd arguments.

On the one hand, we have a few Left-types joining in the general right-wing consensus that employees shouldn't have the right to oust a CEO they strongly disagree with. Others don't seem to understand the difference between a CEO and regular worker-employees, that a CEO represents a company -- and therefore its employees -- in ways that other workers do not.

Meanwhile, as implied by this article, the Right seems to think it's a terrible thing that a community is successfully boycotting a business whose position they disagree with -- when all along they've been telling us that the free market is so much better than government because we can vote with our dollars when we don't like a business.

I was even told today at #lunchWithAConservative that employees ousting a CEO because of his beliefs is "fascism" -- when it seems to me more like an exercise of free speech and democratic oversight.

In other words: if a business or CEO was expressing an idea they disagreed with, then that's the Liberal Elite shoving ideas down everyone's throats -- but when we're taking effective action against an idea they agree with, then suddenly they're all Can't We All Get Along and Liberals Are So Intolerant.

Not that I should expect logical consistency from the Right -- they're mostly just playing on the fact that many of their base won't comprehend the difference, will quite willingly equate {workers ousting a disagreeable CEO} with {hyper-authoritarian rule by force}, and will therefore happily send in donations to help fight the terrible -secret of space- tyranny of the Left -- but why are those on the Left buying into any of this?

If we can't oust a CEO whose ideas we disagree with, then under what circumstances can we oust one?

Isn't this just a way of trying to shut down criticism of what CEOs (and businesses) say or do?
