About
lolcow.wiki is a wiki-based web site which appears to seek out individuals likely to be vulnerable to online abuse, and direct said abuse towards them. It does this under cover of a seemingly-innocent interest in "eccentricity"[1], where "eccentrics" are often referred to as "lolcows" (terminology it has in common[2] with a number of transphobic and generally abusive sites and organizations including Encyclopedia Dramatica and Kiwi Farms).
While it claims to be "fact-oriented"[3], many of the worst accusations do not appear to be backed by any arguments or references at all. Where facts can be supported with sources, the site appears to use a weaponized selection of available information to paint a highly negative picture.
One easy target, of course, is transgender people; the following pages are examples:
- Greta Gustava Martela - deadnaming, misgendering, accusations of fraud without evidence
- Laurelai - deadnaming, use of "transexual" rather than "transgender"
- this section cites as evidence a document which the author has long since regretted posting
