Islam/violence

Islam, much like Christianity and Judaism, has a long history of violent extremism.

Islamic violence, however, tends to be much more widely reported in Western media than violence by other religions, probably due to the predominance of the other two religions in the leadership of Western society who see Islam as more of an alien faith and therefore both "not us" and also useful to demonize.

There is similarly a long history of Christian violence against Muslims, most notably "the Crusades [W]".

• 2015-01-19 Mob of thousands burn alive at least 3 Muslims in apparent retaliation (This was apparently not related to the Charlie Hebdo massacre that took place twelve days earlier.)
