About
Income is money received regularly by a legal entity, most often a person. If it is received in exchange for work (i.e. employment), then it is also a wage.
Types of income include:
- employment income: income from employment; wages
- Issuepedia-refined terms:
- guaranteed income: an income that is guaranteed (promised, ensured) by another party, typically a government
- guaranteed living income
- aka basic income guarantee (BIG)
- guaranteed unconditional living income: probably not optimal, as it might add up to more than is affordable
- guaranteed living income
- living income: an income sufficient to meet basic needs
- non-employment income: income that is not the result of employment status
- unconditional income: income that is received regardless of life circumstances
- aka universal income
- unconditional living income: e.g. living on investment or retirement income
- aka basic minimum income
- aka universal basic income (UBI)
- national unconditional living income: de-facto-living income received by all citizens of a country
- guaranteed income: an income that is guaranteed (promised, ensured) by another party, typically a government
- ambiguous terms:
- basic income can mean either unconditional living income (conventional usage) or living income (Issuepedia)
- minimum income can mean guaranteed income and/or unconditional income
- unconditional basic income
