About
Performative leftism is a rhetorical deception in which someone socially signals their alliance with some set of left-wing causes in order to gain credibility for right-wing arguments.
Examples
- Christina Hoff Sommers (see Social Justice Wiki), member of the right-wing American Enterprise Institute, often positions herself as a feminist while in fact advocating anti-feminist talking-points.
- TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminism) ideology typically relies on a set of intensely anti-feminist beliefs, often claiming that the science clearly supports their position (which it does not) and thus appealing to leftists via the false flags of both feminism and science.
