Donald Trump's popularity is at least partly a "reality TV" fantasy
|
About
It seems very likely that much of Donald Trump's popularity – especially the widespread perception that he was ever a good businessman – derived from his starring role in the "reality TV" show The Apprentice. According to former NBC executive John D. Miller, Trump's appearances were carefully edited to make him appear far more competent and coherent than he actually was – and informal interviews with Trump supporters appear to confirm that many people perceived the show as depicting reality, rather than being a narrative crafted entirely for entertainment purposes (in order to be popular, and therefore profitable to NBC).

[/] In fact, Trump declared business bankruptcy four times before the show went into production, and at least twice more during his 14 seasons hosting.
