There is no such thing as society

"There is no such thing as society" is a claim originally made famous by Margaret Thatcher (I think), probably based on Ayn Rand's statement that "there is no such thing as the public interest", and widely adopted by American libertarians. It is usually used as an argument against the need for government, in parallel with Ronald Reagan's infamous declaration that government is the problem.
