This seems a bit glib, especially the first paragraph... people demonstrating in the street often do not represent the views of their leaders. Leaders marching with the public are not necessarily representing their own true views or intentions. A good objective test would be: were there any further suggestions from French leaders, after this event, that sanctions against Russia should be lifted?
